Overview: Provide turndown service and clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and at whatever time of day.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Room attendant promotes a positive image of the property to guests, must be pleasant, honest, and friendly, and should also be able to address guest requests and problems.
- Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
- Provide turndown service to designated rooms on the assignment sheet.
- Empty trash containers.
- Remove all dirty terry and replace with clean par to designated layout.
- Replace soiled bed sheets and turndown bed.
- Place specified items in designated locations (turndown amenity/cards, door knob menu, bathrobe with card, bed floor mats, TV remote control).
- Responsible for replenishment of complimentary guest water.
- Close drapes/shutters.
- Wipe shower stalls, and sinks, clean toilet if necessary
- Set lighting and thermostat to designated levels.
- Make-up cribs and rollaway beds.
- Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up, and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain, and floor.
- Replace facial, toilet tissue, and bathroom amenities in the correct amount and location.
- Clean guest rooms as assigned. The room will be cleaned when full service is requested, including mopping, vacuuming, and replacing amenities and robes.
- Update the status of rooms cleaned and turned down on the assignment sheet.
- Return and restock the cart at the end of the shift.
- Empty the vacuum bag and wipe the vacuum cleaner.
- Ensure the security of any assigned guest room keys.
- Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor.
- Turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to the Supervisor.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Participate in quality control activities.
- Interact courteously and professionally with all guests, staff, and community members.
- Respond courteously, professionally, and rapidly to resolve all guest and staff difficulties.
- Perform various duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Maintain clean and safe work area.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
- Ensure that standards, inclusive of grooming and attire of staff, are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
- Models the company’s culture, vision, mission, and core values.
- All other duties as required.
Required Skills:
- Ability to prioritize Turn Down based on Guest / Residents preferences, traces, and Housekeeping Notes
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
- Must perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
- Follow directions thoroughly.
- Understand a guest’s service needs.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
- Prior heavy exposure to Housekeeping Turn Down job duties.
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning, handling chemicals, vacuum operation, and other cleaning tools.
- Ability to be resourceful, and creative, and maintain flexibility.
- Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but not limited to, dollars, cents, feet, inches, cups, pounds, and ounces.
- Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
- Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 20 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

Experience: Previous experience in a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel housekeeping department.
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: Minimum two years experience in a similar capacity for a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
The pay scale for this position is between $18.50 and $19.00/hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
