A Day in the Life
As a Storekeeper at Rosewood Amsterdam, your day begins by receiving and inspecting deliveries, ensuring all goods meet the hotel’s high-quality standards. You’ll carefully match delivery slips with purchase orders, maintain accurate inventory records, and oversee the organization of storerooms, freezers, and fridges to ensure proper storage. Collaborating with suppliers and operational departments, you’ll coordinate timely deliveries and manage stock levels efficiently. From monitoring expiration dates to conducting inventory audits, your meticulous attention to detail will play a vital role in supporting the seamless operation of our luxury hotel. At the end of the day, you’ll take pride in knowing your work contributes to the exceptional guest experiences that define Rosewood.
Job Summary
The Storekeeper is a key member of the Purchasing Team, responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing goods. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting the hotel’s operational needs while adhering to Rosewood’s exceptional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection:
- Manage all receiving operations, including inspecting goods to ensure quality, quantity, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Match delivery slips with purchase orders, perform quality control checks, and deliver goods to the storeroom or requesting department.
- Forward invoices to Accounts Payable after verifying quantities and prices against purchase orders.
Inventory Management:
- Ensure the accuracy of inventory records through regular audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations.
- Monitor and control inventory levels to prevent overstock or stockouts, adhering to the First In, First Out system.
- Conduct monthly stock-taking activities and assist the Finance Team as required.
Storage and Distribution:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storerooms, cold rooms, freezers, and fridges, ensuring proper storage conditions and monitoring temperatures.
- Issue goods and supplies while avoiding spoilage by monitoring expiration dates.
- Ensure store security measures are followed, granting access only to authorized personnel.
Supplier Coordination:
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors to schedule deliveries, resolve discrepancies, and address quality or timeliness issues.
- Analyze procurement and inventory costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with operational departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and supplies.
- Respond to guest queries within 24-48 hours, providing clear communication about delays if needed.
- Assist with audit requirements and requests as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience:
- Familiarity with hotel internal control systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of Birchstreet, Opera, and SunSystems is preferred.
- Previous experience in an international-class hotel is an advantage.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in accounting or purchasing.
Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with coworkers and vendors.
- Strong organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Resourceful and adaptable with a guest-oriented mindset.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to exert physical effort, including transporting heavy items, standing for extended periods, and performing various physical movements throughout the work areas.
