Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assisting the Director of Safety and Security in day-to-day operations to include but not limited to investigations, review of safety and security reports, scheduling, attending required meetings. The Safety & Security Manager will also assist in all regulatory inspection’s requests; follow-up to those inspections both internally and with the agencies such as County/State Civil Defense, fire and state/federal law enforcement.
 
OVERVIEW

The Safety & Security Manager will assist the Director of Safety & Security in overseeing all aspects of the Safety & Security Department. They will assist the Director of Safety and Security in developing safety & security measures that assure the overall safety and security of the resort.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
The Safety & Security Manager must be able to solve practical problems quickly and efficiently when the need arises. They must be able to handle paperwork and fill out reports and follow–up with management. They must be able to communicate effectively and be well groomed. They must successfully respond to questions and concerns raised by top management, guests, homeowners and security staff. They must possess supervisory and management skills as they would take the place of the Director of Safety & Security when not available.
 
DUTIES

The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Safety & Security in coordination of safety and security operations, as well as managing, training, and assessing performance of the entire security personnel. The Safety & Security Manager will review all Incident Reports that were generated daily and timely with follow-up to those reports.
The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for conducting internal investigations when necessary, providing courteous service, managing the security personnel, tracking their attendance and scheduling as needed.
 
Other Duties:
  • Coordinate special assignments such as special events, parking, etc.
  • Conduct regular department meetings.
  • Attend resort manager’s meetings.
  • Maintain department communications.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office conditions
  • Outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout the resort, either by foot or motorized vehicle
 
Work Hours:
  • Must be able to work schedule set by the Director of Safety and Security 
  • Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week.
Equipment Use:
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs and other required software.
  • Ability to use the telephone and radio.
  • Ability to use various office equipment.
  • Ability to use security and emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers and automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Ability to operate a utility vehicle or cart.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines is met.
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Must be able to quickly analyze emergency situations, remain calm and take charge.
  • Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  • Able to sit at a desk to do administrative duties.
 
Communication Demands:
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, department managers and guests/clients.
  • Ability to communicate over the phone or radio.
 
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • 2 years related work experience
  • CPR/ 1st Aid Certificate
  • AED Certification
  • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License
