Job Description

OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION

Direct and supervise Safety & Security Officers on their shift in providing security and emergency response services throughout the resort ensuring that their performance is within the guidelines of written procedures and resort philosophy. Follow and enforce policies and procedures, Safety & Security guidelines to safeguard the Team Members and Guests. Investigate and document incidents of concern and properly respond to resolve issues.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be available for all shifts, especially during a weather-related emergency and other types of emergency situations.
  • Respond rapidly to all emergencies and handle crisis situations in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Exhibit a calm demeanor and can manage emergency situations.
  • Direct and Supervise Safety & Security Officers during their job functions.
  • Conduct Investigations and follow-ups to incidents as needed or directed.
  • Accurately document incidents, inquiries and investigations.
  • Follow-up and approve all Incident Reports generated before the end of shift.
  • Enforce safety & security guidelines to safeguard Team Members resort and guests’ property.
  • Schedule, train, supervise, direct and counsel employees under their direction.
  • Coordinate and supervise special assignments.
  • Assist the Director of Safety & Security and Safety & Security Manager in the day-to-day operations
  • Perform all duties of a Safety & Security Officer.
  • Ensure that all resort areas patrolled timely and accurately, discrepancies notated and follow-up to
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Hawaii State Guard Card
  • Two years related work experience
  • CPR/1st Aid / AED Certification
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Valid Driver’s License
GENERAL SKILLS
Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

  • Normal office conditions.
  • Outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout the resort
Work Hours
  • Must be able to work schedule designated by the Director of Safety and Security.
  • Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week.
Equipment Use
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and related applications and software.
  • Ability to use the telephone, radio, surveillance system
  • Ability to use various office equipment 
  • Able to drive a vehicle
  • Ability to operate Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
 
Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Must be able to quickly analyze emergency situations, remain calm and take charge.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend and reach during their work shift
  • Able to sit at a desk to do administrative duties.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 - 50 lbs. and sometimes more during an emergency
 
Communication Demands:
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate over the phone or radio.
  • Must have interviewing skills (who, what, where, when why) and transcribe accurately to formulate reports and document investigations.
