Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy is seeking a commercially minded, people-focused, and visionary Director of Sports Development & Education to lead the next phase of our sports and wellness experience. Set in Sai Kung, HKGTA is an elite sports and leisure destination known for its world-class golf and tennis coaching, integrated wellness offering, and premium patron experience.

This role will lead the strategy, programming, and delivery of sports development, coaching excellence, education, and patron engagement across the Academy. The successful candidate will elevate our sporting experience, strengthen participation and development pathways, and ensure our programmes reflect the standards of a premium, high-performance, and family-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall sports development and education strategy across relevant programmes, academies, camps, clinics, and patron engagement initiatives.
• Drive a culture of excellence across coaching, instruction, and programme delivery, ensuring a high-quality and distinctive patron experience.
• Oversee sports programming across participation, development, and performance pathways, with close attention to quality, utilisation, and commercial impact.
• Partner with internal stakeholders across operations, wellness, membership, marketing, and patron services to create an integrated sports and wellness journey.
• Identify opportunities to refresh or expand offerings in golf, tennis, fitness, wellness, youth development, and education-led experiences.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Sports Development & Education team, building bench strength and succession depth.
• Use data and member feedback to improve engagement, retention, facility usage, programme quality, and revenue performance.
• Maintain strong governance, budgeting, scheduling, safety, and service standards across all relevant activities and facilities.

Requirements

• Degree-qualified in Sports Management, Sports Science, Leisure Management, Hospitality, Education, or a related discipline.
• 10 to 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in sports, recreation, wellness, or club operations.
• Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across coaching, programming, operations, and service.
• Proven ability to build compelling sports and wellness programmes that increase participation, satisfaction, and commercial performance.
• Experience in premium clubs, academies, golf, tennis, recreation, or hospitality-led sports environments preferred.
• Strong commercial sense, with confidence in budgeting, planning, utilisation, and performance tracking.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Fluent English required; Putonghua and Cantonese language capability strongly preferred.
