About the Role

Supporting the Director of Finance in providing financial leadership for the Hotel in achieving profit, cash flow, and key performance goals while maintaining a strategic perspective to identify profitable opportunities, anticipate challenges and create competitive advantage. The Assistant Director of Finance assists the Director of Finance and oversees daily operations of the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Director of Finance to direct all the hotel’s financial activities and supervise the section heads’ work such as general ledger, credit control, fixed assets, cashiering and income audit.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements for Director of Finance to review and ensuring all Balance Sheet reconciliations are also completed on a monthly basis.
  • Supports implementation of appropriate metrics and controls to manage business risks; ensure strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations, profitability and ROIC.
  • Ensures sufficiency of operating fund and maximisation of cash flow, when making payment and bank deposit, through control of stock levels, credit and accounts receivable collection.
  • To ensure hotel operational accounting is up to date
  • To monitor hotel’s expenses, ensuring that they are within budget, and ensuring key stakeholders are informed and updated appropriately
  • Ensures a valid internal control environment, on existing accounting application programs and computer systems, according to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of VAT return data for DOF approval
  • To work with the DOF in developing requisite skills and input into the process of forecasting and annual budgets.
  • Maintains a continuous training and development platform for the associate’s in finance Division and determines training and development needs for relevant associates.
  • Is conversant with all relevant laws for the hospitality business, understands the local regulations, and works closely with the operation team to ensure full compliance in all areas.
  • Ensures the effective management of the Operation Management Review (OMR) process and drives follow up actions as maybe required in order to enhance the performance of the Division and ensure compliance to standards, policies and procedures.
  • Standing in for the DOF in his absence, attendance in meetings, potential presentation of financial results.

About you

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a Senior Finance Management role within the Hospitality Industry.
  • Preferably you’ll have had expose of experience of being part of a pre-opening team.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Strategic, analytical and have good business acumen
  • Good IT literacy and a working knowledge of hotel systems
