Position Summary
Oversees all aspects of the laundry department, ensuring the smooth operations of the department. Manages the various third-party vendors, making sure that product delivered is of the highest quality. Monitors all equipment for wear and tear and planning regular maintenance and replacement. Coordinates and manages distribution of all linen for all the departments. Ensures training is done.

Essential Functions
• Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the hotel’s laundry operations.
• Develop and recommend the budget, labor cost plans and objectives and manage within those approved Budget.
• Assure all production reports has been prepared on monthly basis to allocate the cost at relevant departments.
• Oversees the linen, valet, dry cleaning, and laundry production and ensuring laundry delivery and pick-up are executed in a timely manner.
• Ensures all customers are provided prompt, efficient and accurate service as per international standards to achieve a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Establishes production schedules designed to meet the requirements of the respective hotel operating departments and monitors activities to ensure that schedules are met.
• Communicates frequently with hotel Executive Housekeeper/F&B managers/Guest Service manager to obtain information necessary to establish production schedules which address the current needs of the individual departments regarding linen, terry, or guest laundry.
• Trains staff in service standards, procedure standards and any other training as decided.
• Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas where need for improvement or requirements for advancement exist, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required to achieve same.
• Produces reports relating to employee/equipment productivity, linen and terry usage, damage/discard statistics necessary to evaluate department performance and assist in maintaining operating par stocks for all guest room / F&B, linen, terry, inventories.
• Assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed.
• Orders supplies and chemicals and ensures that the type of laundry chemicals used is in line with local environmental recommendations.
• Takes full responsibility of hygiene cleanliness and maintenance of machines and work premises to ensure safety and higher productivity.
• Maintains preventive maintenance schedules, monitors performance of all recommended/required activities to ensure equipment performs safely, efficiently, and that down time is kept to a minimum.
• Stays current regarding changes in technology, and/or operational procedures that effect the operation of the Laundry/ Valet department.
• Ensures that all staff work in a safe and positive environment and adhere closely to all safety measures.
• Holds brief daily meetings with laundry staff and ensure that accurate and relevant information is provided in a timely basis.
• Develops and implements standard operating procedure, as well as production and quality standard.
• Maintains standards and control of discards on a regular basis.
• Identifies and develops leadership qualities among the team to guide them towards the path of career advancement.
• Handles or resolves all guest complaints through close Supervision, recommends improvement in operation especially in the following aspects of developing better service standard, reduction of coast.
• Evaluates quality of textile samples for linen, uniforms and upholstery and makes recommendations on their quality.
• Conduct the laundry’s benchmark survey and performance achievements once a year with all competitors in the market.
• On an annual basis reviews prices for Guest Laundry and Dry Cleaning/Pressing to ensure that they are competitive with those of key hotels competitors on island.
• Models the company’s mission, vision, & values each and every day.
• Prospects for outside business contracts for laundry services and maintain the long-term relationship with outside clints.
• Ensures the billing for outside contracts is forwarded to Accounts accurately and in a timely manner.
• Evaluate changes in guest needs, the hotels guest mix and industry competitive set, to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest and employee satisfaction.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Ability to uphold and enforce hotel’s standards, policies and procedures with self and laundry staff.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, delegate work to staff.
• Ability to direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections where needed.
• Ability to motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.
• Ability to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to subordinates.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must be able to work well under pressure.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and day and evening shifts.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English both written and oral.
• May be exposed to chemicals hazard.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and hotel information at all times.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Minimum High School education.

Experience:
At least 5 years as a laundry manager or at least 3 years as Director of Laundry.
