Position Overview
This role requires fostering collaboration across property teams, and communicating each property’s vision, goals and accomplishments with different audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Create customized road maps based on global mandate, for integrating impact and sustainability practices into business operations. Ensure flow-through to brand positioning for each property where appropriate.
- Drive planning across various departments, including Rooms, Food and Beverage, Culinary, Talent and Culture, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Communications and Procurement to:
- Optimize hotel processes to mitigate negative environmental footprint and bring circular solutions to life.
- Support development of programs that help empower internal and external communities.
- Ensure each property’s goals are aligned with group goals and ambitions.
- Coordinate implementation of plans through cascading goals into actions and milestones and filling awareness gaps.
- Work closely with division heads and foster cross-departmental collaboration to achieve impact and sustainability targets.
- Drive stakeholders’ buy-in through awareness and education to develop internal ownership of projects and mobilize action.
- Analyze key metrics related to social impact commitments and provide actionable recommendations to key stakeholders on property.
- Support each property in identifying and communicating stories and data effectively and with authenticity. This will include:
- Supporting the communication of impact initiatives with external audiences through media, social media, conferences, etc.
- Weaving impact storytelling into the guest experience.
- Supporting training associates in face-to-face storytelling.
- Support measurement and reporting of progress towards groupwide and property-level impact goals (both social and environmental).
- Monitor accuracy of impact data and reporting.
- Provide regular progress updates to regional and global stakeholders.
- Ensure that reporting aligns with regional and local regulations, and that properties continue to meet the requirements for any sustainability certifications obtained.
- Identify and grow strategic partnerships with local businesses, local suppliers, NGOs and others that align with our profits-with-purpose goals.
Community Engagement: Design and implement programs that support and uplift local communities, including education, employment, cultural preservation, and wellness.
o Build long-term relationships with local stakeholders, including artisans, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
o Ensure community voices are reflected in sustainability strategies and guest experiences.
o Facilitate volunteerism and community service initiatives for associates.
o Promote local sourcing and supplier diversity to strengthen the regional economy.
Additional Responsibilities: Add purpose-driven language, measurable KPIs and guest-experience links, and stronger focus on team engagement and community partnerships.
All other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years’ experience as a Assistant Director Talent & Culture at a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
- Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy;
- prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
- Ability to organize tasks and assign responsibilities to subordinates; ability to educate staff members to develop their knowledge and skill; thorough understanding of the training process; solid planning skills; thorough knowledge of government labor laws and regulations; thorough knowledge of benefits processing; proficiency with Microsoft Office products; thorough knowledge of budget preparation and control.
- Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
