OVERVIEW
At Rosewood Red Sea an ultra-luxury hospitality environment, the E&M Supervisor anchors the reliability and precision of all electrical and mechanical systems that sustain guest experience. This role combines technical authority with hands-on leadership, ensuring that infrastructure performs seamlessly while aligning with the property’s standards of safety, hygiene, and operational excellence upholding Rosewood’s A Sense of Place philosophy.
Beyond conventional supervision, the position demands a proactive, detail-driven approach—integrating system performance with health, hygiene, and compliance expectations across critical areas such as kitchens and food handling zones. Through disciplined oversight, technical depth, and collaborative engagement, the E&M Supervisor contributes to a resilient, efficient, and refined operational environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Electrical Systems Supervision
- Oversee operation and maintenance of:
- LV panels, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs
- Lighting systems (guest areas, BOH, façade, emergency lighting)
- Power distribution and control systems
- Ensure system stability, load balancing, and fault isolation
- Supervise electrical troubleshooting and repairs with minimal disruption
2. Mechanical & HVAC Systems (& District Cooling Interface)
- Supervise HVAC systems including:
- AHUs, FCUs, FAHUs, ventilation and exhaust systems
- Monitor and manage chilled water systems supplied via District Cooling Plant (DCP):
- Pumps
- Heat exchangers
- Control valves and piping networks
- Ensure proper temperature control across guest rooms and critical areas
- Maintain indoor air quality and ventilation standards
3. Plumbing & Sewage Systems
- Supervise water supply and drainage systems
- Monitor operation of:
- Transfer pumps
- Booster pumps
- Sump and sewage systems
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply and proper sanitation
4. Fire & Life Safety (In-House Scope)
- Maintain internal hydraulic fire-fighting network, including:
- Fire hose reels
- Sprinkler piping
- Landing valves and associated systems
- Coordinate with community authorities and AMC vendors for:
- Fire alarm systems
- External firefighting infrastructure
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure readiness of all systems
5. Health, Hygiene & HACCP Compliance
- Ensure all engineering systems in kitchens, food preparation, and storage areas comply with HACCP standards
- Maintain hygiene-focused systems such as:
- Kitchen ventilation & exhaust (grease control, airflow balance)
- Drainage and waste water systems
- Cold room temperature stability
- Support Food Safety teams during audits and inspections
- Ensure no engineering-related risk to food safety or hygiene standards
6. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance for all E&M systems
- Ensure timely closure of corrective maintenance tasks
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and logs
- Minimize downtime through proactive fault detection
7. Emergency Response & Shift Leadership
- Act as first responder for:
- Power failures
- HVAC breakdowns
- Water leakages / flooding
- Lead technical response during emergencies and coordinate with relevant teams
- Ensure safe isolation and restoration of systems
8. Team Supervision & Workforce Management
- Supervise technicians across electrical and mechanical disciplines
- Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure quality of work
- Provide on-the-job guidance and technical direction
- Promote adherence to safety and operational standards
9. Contractor & Vendor Coordination
- Supervise external contractors and AMC service providers
- Ensure work is executed as per scope, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Coordinate specialized services (e.g., district cooling interface, fire systems)
10. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce electrical and mechanical safety practices:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Permit to Work (PTW) systems
- Ensure compliance with:
- Local authority regulations
- Hotel safety standards
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively
11. Energy Efficiency & System Optimization
- Monitor energy usage across E&M systems
- Identify opportunities for:
- Energy conservation
- System optimization
- Support sustainability initiatives aligned with hotel goals
12. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Maintenance activities
- System performance
- Incidents and breakdowns
- Prepare shift reports and technical summaries for management
- Ensure proper handover between shifts
13. Continuous Improvement & Technical Initiative
- Propose improvements to enhance:
- System reliability
- Operational efficiency
- Guest comfort
- Participate in technical upgrades and system enhancements
- Contribute to innovation in maintenance practices and system management
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Building Services
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years in engineering operations
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory role in a 5 Star Hotel, Preferably Luxury Brands
- Exposure to:
- District cooling systems
- Kitchen and HACCP-sensitive environments
- Fire system coordination with external authorities
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical distribution systems
- HVAC systems (AHU, FCU, ventilation)
- Chilled water systems (DCP interface)
- Plumbing and fire protection systems
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Technical drawings
- Schematics and manuals
Health, Safety & Compliance Knowledge
- Understanding of:
- HACCP requirements (engineering-related aspects)
- Fire and life safety systems
- Safe work practices and risk assessments
Leadership & Behavioral Skills
- Strong supervisory and team coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies
- Detail-oriented with proactive problem-solving ability
- High level of accountability and ownership
Communication & Language
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare reports and communicate technical issues clearly
- Fluency in English (mandatory)
- Arabic or additional languages preferred
Training & Development
- Ability to guide and train technicians on:
- Technical procedures
- Safety practices
- Hygiene compliance in critical areas
Other Requirements
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Physically capable of handling technical supervisory duties
- Willingness to be on-call for emergencies
