The Assistant Director of Talent & Development plays a lead role in the development and implementation of the resort’s strategic and operational training plan by aligning learning and development initiatives with the overall company goals.
They manage the training and development function for the property to include scheduling and facilitating existing programs, implementing new programs, leveraging of external training sources and departmental managers/internal trainers and ensuring that all training and development standards are met. They will steer the property in its quality assurance initiatives ensuring the highest standards are engrained in the culture of each team and individual. And in addition, they will support the Director of Talent & Culture with other projects and initiatives to deliver a first class T&C service to our teams and stakeholders

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

TALENT:
• Ensures all training and development activities are strategically linked to the company’s mission, vision and culture standards.
• Facilitates Rosewood Hotel & Resorts training programs including Perfect Discovery (orientation), Train the Trainer, Code of Conduct Rosewood Reception (orientation programme), Emerging Leaders Program etc.
• Plays a lead role in developing succession planning and supporting mentoring, learning and cross training programmes to meet individual and business needs.
• With Department Managers, selects and trains an internal training team to support delivery of standards-led and job skills training programs. Tracks quality of trainers, monitors hours of training completed, effectiveness and processes rewards according to Resort guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with company standards and local laws on food handling, health and safety, fire safety, first aid etc. Trains or co-ordinates training liaises with other departments (e.g. Engineering, F&B etc.) accordingly.
• Maintains and develops in-house and online training resources
• Ensures a robust training program is in place to focus on quality standards. Reviews quality reports and assists Heads of Departments in formulating action plans based on results
• Coordinates the organization and delivery of the associate recognition and long service awards
• Contributes to the annual budgeting process and maintains the training expenses throughout the year
• Manage the Internship Program for both local and international students
• Initiates and co-ordinates community-based training programs. Establishes educational partnerships with local schools and colleges to promote Resort as the employer of choice and as part of the resort’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
• Assists in the coordination of daily stand-up meetings, monthly and quarterly team meetings by participating and presenting topics
• Acts as a culture carrier for RWLDB Talant & Culture Team by living the company values and engaging positively with associates on a daily basis
• Play an active role in all other programs within the Talent & Culture department including recruitment, payroll administration, associate communication and social & teambuilding activities.

DEVELOPMENT:
• Works with the Resort Manager to monitor and improve quality standards, in particular in relation to LQA and Forbes requirements
• Reviews TrustYou and other forms of guest feedback to identify opportunities for standards training
• Develops own knowledge of operational requirements within each department to advise on possible improvement opportunities
• Seeks opportunities to engage with guest and acquire first hand feedback on resort service delivery
• Fulfills Manager on Duty role as required
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Hotel Management or Human Resources or equivalent experience
• Certification in training, coaching or HR certification with strong Training component from a recognized institution e.g. CIPD or SHRM desirable.
Experience:
• Experience at properties of similar size and quality in the Caribbean or other remote location
• 2 years’+ experience as a Talent & Development Manager, preferably in 5-star resort environment.
• Fluency in English. Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
• Confidence in presenting to small and large groups and giving advice to senior management
• Detail orientated, possessing speed and accuracy in performance of duties and assigned projects. Good planning, organizing, execution and follow-up ability; calm under pressure. Problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision; Ability to communicate at all levels with excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills. Relationship builder.
• Extensive knowledge of learning & training methods and techniques essential. Experience of conducting Training Needs Analyses and program creation to address training needs is essential. Excellent presentation and training/facilitation skills. Excellent knowledge of presentation and standard software applications Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, with advanced PowerPoint knowledge.
• Must have personal standing, integrity, intellectual capability and operational grip to gain and sustain respect throughout the organization, demonstrate creativity and passion.
