Due to our growth, globally and especially in the Middle East, we are looking for a dynamic and energetic Managing Director to join our expanding team.
In this role the MD, has a two-fold responsibility for the overall operation of both assigned and designated hotels to maximize performance, profitability, and return on investment by creating a positive and productive work environment. The MD should also ensure excellence in guest service and compliance to company standards and be responsible to optimize relationships with owners, key stakeholders, hotel management and associates and will lead the role in promoting the culture and the values of the Group.
For the Assigned Hotels, the MD should:
- Develop and implement the agreed annual budget and business plan and make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the hotel and ensure brand loyalty.
- Monitor the financial performance and operational plans of the hotel to support the agreed overall objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of all guest services ensuring the utmost quality and care is delivered, including the effective resolution of all complaints to the satisfaction of guests.
- Ensure that product, standards are met in all areas of the hotel as pertains to physical appearance, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Establish and maintain preventative maintenance programmes to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
- Work closely with corporate team in ensures optimum staffing levels relative to volume and productivity levels in all areas of the hotel.
- Develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts to ensure a visible presence in the local community and ensure the handling of community/media related inquiries in the most effective manner
- Foster the development of a positive work environment for all associates. Mentors all levels of associates through formal and informal meetings, discussions, and performance feedback.
- Drive the Operations Management Review (OMR) process across all Hotels, to enhance service and product standards and ensure alignment with corporate direction.
For the Designated Hotels, the MD should:
- Act as a mentor and support to the managing director of designated hotels and be an integral part of the owner relationship strategy, managing and guiding owner expectations, with the managing director.
- Be responsible to help guide each hotel’s financial expectations through the budget process and performance monthly to meet agreed financials objectives (monthly calls).
- Have an oversight into the key matrix of TrustYou / LQA / OMR’s to guide and support company service standards / goal achievement
- Have an oversight into business matrix such as RevPar / RGI, toward maximising revenue performance.
- Ensure quality, fire and life safety standards and fully implemented and are not compromised for profit.
- Conduct minimum two site visits per annum to review financial performance goals, product standard enforcement and KPI goal achievement.
- Review and recommends on any renovation projects to ensure their need, feasibility, and ROI potential.
For both Assigned and Designated Hotels the MD should
- Be a “Brand Ambassador”, and actively inculcates the Rosewood culture at the properties.
- Ensure a balance of oversight and empowerment to direct reports to allow them to respond to meet market needs in a timely non bureaucratic manner while meeting corporate expectations.
- Conduct annual performance appraisals of designated Managing Directors to mentor and guide their career development.
- Assists in ensuring succession planning, management trainee and other talent development programmes are optimised at property.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have well-developed leadership competencies.
- Think strategically with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Have clear and concise communication and presentation skills
- Have good relationship management skills with various stakeholders
- Have at least 10 years senior hospitality management experience and three to five years’ experience as a Managing Director
