The Team

As part of the Operations Division, focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence, this role contributes to the strategic leadership and execution of service and product standards across the Rooms Division. The Director of Rooms reports directly to the Managing Director and collaborates closely with Sales & Marketing, Revenue, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Talent & Culture.

This role also provides executive oversight of Asaya and Rosewood Explorers, ensuring alignment with Rosewood’s holistic wellbeing and family programming standards. The Director of Spa reports directly to the Director of Rooms, consistent with operating structures across many Rosewood properties.


Your Role

The Director of Rooms plays a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience and operational success of the hotel. This leader drives innovation, elevates service delivery, and supports financial performance through strategic leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The role directly influences guest satisfaction, associate engagement, and overall financial outcomes while fostering a culture of excellence and belonging.


How You’ll Make the Place

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for the Rooms Division, aligned with brand vision and business goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Asaya, ensuring alignment with brand standards, financial targets, and wellbeing positioning.
  • Lead and support the Director of Spa in service excellence, revenue optimization, and associate development.
  • Oversee Rosewood Explorers to ensure exceptional family programming that enhances the guest journey.
  • Integrate spa, wellness, and family programming into the broader guest experience strategy.
  • Oversee financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • Develop and maintain operating manuals, policies, and procedures for consistency and compliance.
  • Drive the Operations Management Review (OMR) process and implement continuous improvement action plans.
  • Manage guest satisfaction programs including surveys, VIP recognition, and repeat guest engagement.
  • Ensure high standards of presentation and cleanliness across guest rooms and public areas in partnership with Housekeeping and Engineering.
  • Support pre-opening strategy and execution for all Rooms Division activities.
  • Maintain a visible presence in front-of-house areas, greeting VIPs and monitoring service delivery.
  • Coordinate room allocations and amenity requirements for arrivals and departures.
  • Monitor and analyze Rooms Division performance metrics including revenue, costs, and guest feedback.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Revenue, and F&B teams to maximize room yield and RevPAR.
  • Lead monthly departmental meetings to review financials, guest issues, and strategic plans.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, recognition, training, and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with training and development requirements in partnership with Talent & Culture.
  • Participate in recruitment, disciplinary processes, and associate engagement initiatives.
  • Represent the Rooms Division in executive meetings and contribute to hotel-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication across departments and with senior leadership.
  • Model Rosewood’s culture, vision, and values in all interactions and leadership practices.


Could This Be You?

  • Extensive senior management experience within the Rooms Division, ideally in luxury hospitality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong strategic thinking, initiative, and decision-making skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities with a focus on development and engagement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience contributing to the successful pre-opening of a luxury hotel.
  • Knowledge of hospitality and building laws and regulations, particularly within the U.S. and California.
  • Deep understanding of luxury service standards and guest personalization.
  • Proficiency in operational planning, financial management, and performance analysis.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving collaborative initiatives.
  • Background in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Awareness of industry trends, competitor landscape, and hospitality innovations.
  • Experience in hospitality or luxury environments that strengthens your operational profile.

Salary Range: $130,000–$150,000 annually This range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer. The position may also be eligible for bonuses. Individual salaries are determined based on experience, type of experience, location, and education.
