Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Carpentry Maintenance & Repair
• Maintain, repair, and install all screens, doors, windows, louvres, door frames, and door closers, ensuring smooth operation and pristine appearance.
• Build, repair, or replace wood structures, cabinetry, moldings, baseboards, tile ceilings, shingles, decks, and furniture to meet luxury-quality finish standards.
• Inspect and maintain all wooden guest-facing and associate areas to ensure they meet brand expectations for exceptional craftsmanship.
Construction & Restoration Work
• Execute high-quality carpentry work on renovation projects, guestroom improvements, villa enhancements, and new resort installations.
• Restore and refinish premium wood furniture, decorative items, and architectural details to maintain a consistent luxury aesthetic.
• Work with precision tools and techniques to ensure all finishes match existing styles, stains, and textures.
Operational Excellence & Documentation
• Maintain accurate daily records of time spent, materials used, and work completed on all job assignments and work orders.
• Communicate status updates, material needs, and equipment/tool requirements to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Ensure the carpentry shop is kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety and brand presentation standards.
Safety & Compliance
• Perform all work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), resort safety standards, and local regulations.
• Follow safe working practices including proper use of tools, machinery, ladders, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify hazards or safety issues in wooden structures and take immediate corrective action or report to leadership.
Guest Experience & Brand Alignment
• Work discreetly in guest areas, minimizing noise and disruption, and ensuring work areas are left spotless.
• Maintain a high level of craftsmanship consistent with luxury hospitality and the expectations of Forbes Travel Guide, LQA and Rosewood brand standards.
• Collaborate professionally with other departments to support guest needs, special requests, and urgent service recoveries.
Emergency & Environmental Preparedness
• Remain available for extended hours when needed to support hurricane or severe weather preparations, including securing wooden structures, shutters, and outdoor assets.
• Assist with post-storm recovery efforts to ensure the resort returns to operational readiness swiftly and safely.
Additional Duties
• Support the Engineering team with related tasks outside carpentry when necessary.
• Perform any other job-related duties assigned by the Engineering leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in Carpentry preferred.
• Formal training in woodworking, joinery, furniture making, or construction is an asset.
• Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA or regional equivalent) are an added advantage.
Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years of carpentry experience, ideally in a hotel, luxury resort, or high-end residential environment.
• Proven experience with:
• Door and window system installation and repair
• Fine finishing, varnishing, staining, and restoration
• Furniture repair and fabrication
• Roof shingles, decking, and outdoor wood structures
• Light drywall repair and ceiling tile replacement
Technical Skills
• Strong proficiency in using hand tools and power tools such as saws, routers, planers, sanders, drills, and joinery equipment.
• Knowledge of tropical hardwoods, moisture-resistant materials, and island-appropriate building techniques.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Skilled in precise measurement, leveling, and alignment techniques for high-end installations.
