A Day in the Life

As a Housekeeping Supervisor at Rosewood Amsterdam, your day starts with a quick check-in with your team, ensuring everyone is ready and equipped to deliver the highest standards of cleanliness and service to our guests. You spend your morning walking the floors, conducting detailed inspections of guest rooms and common areas, making sure everything meets the exacting standards of Rosewood Hotels. Throughout the day, you oversee the work of Room Attendants and Housemen, providing guidance, addressing any guest requests or issues with care and efficiency, and ensuring all operations run smoothly. As you wrap up the day, you prepare reports on room status and the day’s activities, reflecting on how you and your team have contributed to the exceptional guest experience that Rosewood is known for.

Job Overview

The Housekeeping Supervisor is an integral part of the Housekeeping Team, responsible for ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and attention to detail. This role involves overseeing Room Attendants and Housemen, conducting thorough inspections, and managing day-to-day operations on the assigned floors. The Housekeeping Supervisor also ensures that all guest requests are handled efficiently and that all hotel policies, including safety and security protocols, are strictly followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, corridors, and common areas, ensuring adherence to Rosewood’s brand standards.
    • Oversee the work of Room Attendants and Housemen, providing feedback and support to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
    • Ensure all floors are properly stocked with supplies and that associates have the tools needed for their work.
    • Manage the Dispatch of Housekeeping services and follow up on guest requests promptly and efficiently.

  • Guest Experience:

    • Handle guest complaints and inquiries with professionalism, ensuring issues are resolved to the guest's satisfaction.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
    • Review guest requests before arrival and ensure they are fulfilled promptly and accurately.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Train and onboard new associates, ensuring they understand and adhere to Rosewood’s standards.
    • Conduct regular practical training sessions to enhance team productivity and service quality.
    • Manage associate performance through feedback, coaching, and by reporting to Housekeeping Management as needed.
    • Maintain associate attendance records and ensure grooming standards are upheld.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all housekeeping operations comply with hotel policies, safety regulations, and local laws.
    • Report any security issues or lost items immediately to the appropriate departments.
    • Monitor the safety and proper use of key cards and mobile devices.

  • Additional Duties:

    • Participate in department meetings and training sessions, staying informed of all hotel policies and procedures.
    • Assist with special projects and complete any assignments given by Housekeeping Management.
    • Be versatile and able to step into a Housekeeping Coordinator role when necessary.

Critical Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in housekeeping is required, with supervisory experience preferred.
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, and ensure accuracy in work.

  • Personal Attributes:

    • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
    • Open-minded, flexible, and proactive, with a "Can-Do" approach to requests.
    • Ability to remain calm, think clearly, and resolve problems using good judgment.

  • Communication:

    • Strong ability to read, write, and speak English.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and management.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to endure various physical movements throughout work areas, including standing, walking, and lifting.

Opening in Q1 2025, Rosewood Amsterdam will be Rosewood’s first property in the Netherlands. 

Located in the historic Palace of Justice, a building rich in architectural, historical, and social significance, the hotel overlooks the beautiful Prinsengracht (the Prince’s Canal) in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Amsterdam Canal District. The hotel will feature 134 luxurious guestrooms and suites, many with stunning views of the adjoining canals, serene internal courtyards, and the iconic townhouse rooftops.

Guests will enjoy a variety of amenities, including three distinctive restaurants and bars, our signature Asaya spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and an indoor swimming pool. For events and meetings, the hotel will offer multiple spaces, including a 3,000 square-foot ballroom equipped with advanced audio and visual services and bathed in natural daylight.

Throughout the hotel, the design will pay homage to the building’s and city’s unique spirit, creating spaces that are both distinct and harmonious. The lobby lounge, for instance, will feature a cozy library adorned with beautiful legal books, photographs, and artifacts, creating an inviting space for guests to relax. All public areas will overlook the three beautifully landscaped internal courtyards, providing a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.
