Rosewood Blue Palace will open in Crete, Greece in April 2027 and we are now seeking talented individuals to help bring the re-imagining of this stunning property to life. 

The Director of Procurement will be based on-site at the hotel in Elounda, Crete. 

THE ROLE

Set and develop strategies aligned with organizational vision and future aspirations. Take a long-term and big-picture view of the business. Communicate compelling visions and translates that into plans and actions.Responsible for procuring efficiently and effectively all supplies of the hotel at the most cost-effective manner whilst maintaining quality. Work closely with selected suppliers and manage the company’s procurement activities for food, beverage and non-food and beverage.  

Provide leadership for the Purchasing Department and motivate staff to achieve maximum performance and efficiency.

 

HOW YOU'LL MAKE THE PLACE

Strategic Financial Leadership

·       Demonstrate sound business acumen by keeping up to date with market trends and industry dynamics. Identify business opportunities for the organization. Demonstrate financial awareness by thinking in terms of profits, loss and added value. Deliver tangible business results.

·       Take a proactive approach to cost management and achieve cost reduction/ benefit targets through a ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ approach, value analysis/ value engineering.

·       Make recommendations and suggestions, improvements and cost savings to the Director of Finance Business Partner and Hotel Manager.

·       Review and negotiate purchase agreements. Research new sources and recommend changes to product sourcing as applicable.

·       Track and report all daily spending and communicate to relevant Department heads variances and progress.     

·       Monitor and improve supplier performance and maintain regular contact to renegotiate prices.

 

Operational Excellence

·       Take initiative and ownership of making decisions and actions timely and independently. Take calculated risks and makes considered decisions based on information and intelligence across the organization.

·       Regulate and maintain a controllable ordering system using a “just in time” approach to prevent excessive stock holding. Work with Department Heads to set par stocks.  

·       Responsible for all contracts, tenders and bids throughout the hotel ensuring the best value is negotiated without compromising quality.

·       Partner with internal stakeholders to formulate the procurement strategy and build and execute a strategic sourcing roadmap to assist in the delivery of operational objectives.

·       Maintain integrity in the supply chain ensuring the hotel partner’s act ethically and in keeping with Rosewood standards.

·       Conduct market surveys with Cost Controller and Chef for complete analysis and comparison.

·       Secure at least three quotations for all items, especially high-cost items.

·       Prioritize the purchasing efforts, review agreements, search for new suppliers, recommend change of products, secure samples of new items, check background of new suppliers including their performance track record.

·       Maintain an efficient system handling, coding and tracking of products and communicate with Accounting on invoices which need researching.      

·       Establish consistent product specifications with the operating departments for all locally purchased products and services.

·       Purchase HEOS and furniture, fixtures, and equipment as required for various assigned projects on time and on budget.

·       Responsible for the efficient and cost-effective administration of the Procurement department and Storerooms.

·       Review and issue purchase orders which are duly approved to suppliers.

·       Assist in controlling and reducing inventories by using proper purchasing procedures.

 

Leadership & Team Development

·       Through people leadership, provide others with a clear direction and sets appropriate standards of behavior. Motivate and empower others by delegating work appropriately. Provide associates with development opportunities and support. Builds capable and diverse teams.

·       Foster the development of a positive work environment for the department’s associates. Mentor all levels through formal and informal meetings, discussions and performance feedback. 

·       Establish and maintain effective internal communications and meeting structures to ensure optimum teamwork and productivity.

·       Proactively drive high levels of associate engagement by ensuring regular conversations and communication through department meetings, one to ones, performance appraisals and all associate meetings.

·       Foster a culture of recognition by promoting hotel recognition programmes and divisional incentives.

·       Maintain discipline within the department and conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews with all relevant associates and as and when required with the Talent & Culture Department.

·       Operate an efficient and well-organized department, ensuring all associates are well trained and highly motivated.

·       Take an active role in ensuring compliance with training requirements in conjunction with Talent & Culture.

·       Actively participate in recruitment and succession planning, ensuring the right people are in the right roles, to meet both current and future needs. 

·       Model the company culture, vision, mission and core values at all times, actively driving the vision and values across the hotel.

·       Strategic sourcing experience with strong knowledge of related sourcing processes, tools, systems, policies, and best practices.

·       Extensive knowledge of local market, vendors and procurement operations.

·       Experience operating at management level in procurement in a luxury hotel/ restaurant environment.
