Overview/Basic Function:
The Assistant Laundry Manager is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and operational excellence of the Laundry and Uniform Departments. Acting as the primary authority within the department, the role ensures flawless execution of laundry operations, linen and uniform management, staff performance, quality control, and guest service delivery. The position supports the Director of Housekeeping in driving departmental strategy, cost control, quality assurance, LQA compliance, and associate engagement, while ensuring all laundry, uniform, and textile services meet ultra-luxury brand standards at all times.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Departmental Management
- Act as the senior operational leader of the Laundry Department, overseeing all daily activities and workflows
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop Laundry Supervisors, Attendants, Pressers, and Uniform Room associates
- Ensure full compliance with Rosewood brand standards, LQA requirements, and departmental SOPs .
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence
- Support the Director of Housekeeping as required
Laundry & Uniform Operations
- Develop, implement, review, and continuously update departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all laundry and uniform operations
- Oversee all laundry operations including guest laundry, dry cleaning, valet services, uniforms, and hotel linen processing
- Ensure consistent quality control across washing, pressing, finishing, and garment handling processes
- Monitor linen and uniform par levels to ensure uninterrupted operations for Rooms, F&B, Spa, and Public Areas
- Ensure proper segregation, handling, storage, and distribution of all textiles
- Supervise uniform issuance, alterations, repairs, discards, and replacement cycles Quality Assurance & Brand Compliance
- Ensure daily production quality meets prescribed luxury standards across all departments
- Conduct regular inspections of linen rooms, uniform rooms, machinery areas, and storage spaces
- Maintain readiness for LQA inspections and internal audits at all times
- Identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly
- Ensure attention to detail in all guest-facing and back-of-house textile presentation
Financial Control & Inventory Management
- Control and monitor departmental payroll, productivity, and staffing efficiency within budget Prepare and manage duty rosters in line with operational forecasts and business levels
- Maintain accurate monthly inventories of linen, uniforms, and discard items
- Track linen loss, discard records, and consumption reports, reporting discrepancies to the Director of Housekeeping
- Maintain accurate laundry poundage, dry-cleaning, and external vendor records
Human Resources, Training & Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, and continuously develop laundry and uniform room associates
- Ensure proper training on machinery, chemical handling, textile care, and safety procedures
- Conduct regular departmental briefings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions
- Coordinate with HR on disciplinary actions, recognition, leave management, and staffing matters
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment
Guest Service & Service Recovery
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all guest laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing requests
- Handle guest-related concerns professionally, discreetly, and in coordination with Housekeeping leadership
- Maintain a courteous, helpful, and service-oriented approach at all times
- Ensure personalized handling of VIP and long-stay guest garments
Maintenance, Safety & Vendor Coordination
- Ensure all laundry machinery is operated according to specifications and safety standards ? Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with Engineering and external service providers
- Monitor chemical usage, storage, and safety compliance at all times
- Maintain professional relationships with linen, uniform, chemical, equipment, and external laundry vendors Health, Safety & OSHAD Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with OSHAD / OSHA regulations and Rosewood OSHMS standards
- Identify, report, and mitigate health and safety risks within laundry operations
- Ensure associates are trained on PPE usage, emergency procedures, and safe working practices
- Enforce emergency procedures in case of fire, equipment failure, or evacuation
Administration & Reporting
- Prepare and submit operational reports, inventories, payroll data, and compliance documentation
- Attend departmental and Rooms Division meetings as required
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, audits, and operational records
- Take charge of special projects as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping
- Perform all other duties as required based on operational needs
Accountable
- Accountable for overall Laundry and Uniform Department performance, quality, and compliance
- Accountable for inventory accuracy, cost control, and payroll efficiency
- Accountable for associate performance, safety, and professional conduct
- Accountable for maintaining brand, LQA, and safety standards at all times
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Laundry Operations, including supervisory or managerial roles in a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel.
Education: High school diploma.
General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co- workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of laundry and dry cleaning equipment and chemical handling; ability to operate all machinery in laundry/wet cleaning areas; ability to follow directions; ability to remain extremely alert while operating machinery; ability to exert physical effort in the movement of bundles of soiled/cleaned bed linens, terry and food & beverage linens into/out of laundry machines; ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports; basic mathematical skills to interpret financial information and prepare budgets; ability to analyze the interpret established policies; ability to plan and organize the work of others; ability to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions; ability to speak and write clearly; ability to accept full responsibility for managing an activity.
Language: Require to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
