Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Pool, Spa & Water Feature Maintenance
• Conduct daily testing and balancing of pool and spa water chemistry, ensuring compliance with local health codes and luxury brand standards.
• Maintain proper levels of disinfectants, pH, alkalinity, and other required parameters.
• Inspect and ensure proper functioning of filtration systems, pumps, heaters, automation systems, and circulation equipment.
• Perform regular cleaning of pools, spas, and water features including skimming, brushing, vacuuming, and backwashing.
• Monitor and adjust system performance to ensure consistently pristine water quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of pump rooms and chemical storage areas at all times.
Operational & Preventive Maintenance
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on all aquatic equipment and systems to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Troubleshoot and repair pool heaters, pumps, chemical feeders, automated controllers, valves, plumbing lines, and related mechanical components.
• Support daily operations by responding urgently to service calls or guest-impacting issues.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with resort safety standards and documented in the maintenance management system.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
• Ensure compliance with all local, pool operation regulations and health codes.
• Adhere to all resort safety practices including proper chemical handling, PPE usage, emergency procedures, and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
• Ensure all pool areas and equipment are maintained to luxury and Forbes Travel Guide, LQA and Rosewood aligned standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Maintain accurate records of water test results, chemical consumption, equipment inspections, and corrective actions.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
• Support the resort’s commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience by maintaining consistently beautiful, safe, and inviting aquatic environments.
• Work discreetly in guest areas, minimizing noise and disruption.
• Uphold the resort’s service philosophy, values, and hospitality culture in all interactions.
• Coordinate with Spa, Front Office, Housekeeping and Pool & Beach to anticipate operational needs or special guest requests.
Teamwork & Communication
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to support wider property systems and maintenance needs.
• Report equipment failures or potential issues immediately to the Engineering leadership team.
• Maintain open communication with leadership regarding inventory needs for chemicals, equipment, and replacement parts.
• Participate in training, cross-training, and departmental meetings as required.
Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum 2–3 years of pool/spa maintenance experience, ideally in a hotel, resort, residential community, or commercial aquatic facility.
• Experience working with:
• Pool & spa pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical feeders
• Saltwater systems, UV/ozone sanitation, or advanced water treatment systems
• Automated controllers and monitoring systems
Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, hygiene standards, and local health code requirements.
• Ability to diagnose and repair pool and spa mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient pool heating systems and sustainability practices related to water use and chemical management.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and equipment diagrams.
