Job Summary –
· Play a lead role in the development and implementation of the resort’s strategic and operational training plan by aligning learning and development initiatives with the overall business plan to aid achievement of organizational goals.
· Supervise the training and development function for the property to include scheduling and facilitating existing programs, implementing new programs, the leveraging of external training sources and departmental managers/internal trainers and ensuring that all training and development standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities)
· Ensures all training and development activities are strategically linked to the company’s mission, vision and culture standards.
· Plays a lead role in developing succession planning and supporting mentoring, learning and cross training programmes to meet individual and business needs.
· Works with Department Managers to identify skills gaps and works with Managers to develop and facilitate appropriate training and development opportunities (PIPs) to address these needs and to aid in fulfillment of career aspirations.
· Works with Department Managers to regularly update SOPs and key standards
· Establishes, with Department Heads, departmental SOPs, key standards and incorporation of Market Matrix (guest satisfaction survey, corporate shopper) results in departmental training plans.
· Interacts with guests on a regular basis throughout the resort to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels and overall satisfaction
· Observes internal & external service behaviors of all colleagues on a weekly basis, tracks and provides individual feedback to individuals and Department Managers; produces monthly report of service standards and corrective action; continuously takes action to improve service performance and motivation.
· Develops and maintains an annual and monthly training calendar with internal and external training and learning opportunities and promotes to all colleagues.
· Sources external training providers and learning opportunities – locally, regionally and internationally – liaising with Corporate Director of Training accordingly
· Facilitate Rosewood Hotel & Resorts mandated training programs e.g. Rosewood Reception (orientation programme).
· Develop and ensure utilization of TREES manuals
· Create monitors and controls an external training provider preferred supplier list.
· Develops in-house library of training material and supporting props
· Carries out audit on training and development initiatives to ensure Return On Investment (cost, time, relevance) using a variety of different evaluation methods (individually and departmentally) and makes adjustments to training or retrains as appropriate.
· Demonstrates knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of training and learning events ensuring culture, context, audience relevance and maximum transfer of knowledge.
· Develops and maintains a training tracking system to track training participants, classes, number of hours of training in accordance with Company and Resort guidelines.
· With Department Managers, selects and trains an internal training team to support delivery of standards-led and job skills training programs. Tracks quality of trainers, monitors hours of training completed, effectiveness and processes rewards according to Resort guidelines.
· Ensures compliance with company standards and local laws on food handling, health and safety, fire safety, first aid etc. Trains or co-ordinates training, liaises with other departments (e.g. Engineering, F&B etc.) accordingly.
· Leads and coordinates the successful implementation of the Understudy Programme – liaising with internal (e.g. resort employees) and external (e.g. the Labour Department) stakeholders as appropriate.
· Initiates and co-ordinates community based training programs (e.g. Jumby Bay Manager Tutor Programme at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute). Establishes educational partnerships with local schools and colleges to promote Resort as the employer of choice and as part of the resort’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
· Lead by example by driving own continuous professional development
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Provides management direction and counseling. Supervises clerical assistant and temporary staffing as needed.
Qualifications
· Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
· Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
· Ensure accurate maintenance of all associate training files.
· Carried out in accordance with hotel policy and procedures.
· Provide feedback to Human Resources associates on their performance. Handle disciplinary problems and counsel associates.
· Ensure progressive discipline procedures; monitor compliance with such; conduct counseling sessions with associates; ensure documentation and placement of records in associates' files.
Required Skills –
· General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
· Technical Skills: Knowledge of government labor regulations; knowledge of associate benefits processing; computer literate; ability to present training programs to associates.
· Language: Required to speak, read and write in both English and Japanese
· Must have personal standing, integrity, intellectual capability and operational grip to gain and sustain respect throughout the organization, creativity and passion
Qualifications –
· College degree.
· Licenses & Certifications: None required.
Experience –
· Experience:Minimum three years’ experience as a hotel/resort Human Resources Manager, preferably in a luxury or ultra-luxury environment.
