A Day in the Life

As a Barista at Rosewood Amsterdam, your day begins by preparing your station to deliver exceptional coffee and beverage experiences. You’ll calibrate the coffee machine, ensure the bar is stocked, and review any special requests or upcoming guest preferences. Throughout the day, you’ll craft specialty coffees, teas, and beverages with precision and care while engaging guests with warmth and professionalism. Whether it’s a morning espresso or an afternoon latte, every interaction and every cup you prepare adds to the luxury experience that defines Rosewood. By the end of your shift, you’ll leave with the satisfaction of having enhanced the day for countless guests.

Job Summary

The Barista is responsible for creating and serving high-quality coffee and beverages while maintaining the highest standards of service. This role requires excellent product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to engage with guests in a genuine and professional manner. As part of the Food & Beverage team, the Barista contributes to the seamless operation of Rosewood’s dining outlets and lounges.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience:

• Craft and serve coffee, teas, and specialty beverages to meet guests’ individual preferences.
• Engage with guests, sharing knowledge of the menu and making personalized recommendations.
• Build rapport with regular guests, remembering their preferences to create memorable interactions.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to special requests or inquiries.

Operational Excellence:

• Set up, maintain, and replenish the coffee bar with necessary supplies, ensuring the station is fully stocked and operational.
• Follow precise recipes and preparation techniques to deliver consistent, high-quality beverages.
• Ensure the work area is always clean, organized, and ready for service.
• Assist with tasks such as clearing tables, restocking supplies, and ensuring the overall readiness of the area.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, including cleaning equipment and restocking for the next shift.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, reporting any operational issues or guest feedback.
• Demonstrate excellent teamwork by supporting colleagues as needed.

Standards and Compliance:

• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, adhering to uniform and grooming guidelines.
• Comply with all health and safety standards, including HACCP regulations and proper equipment usage.
• Handle all equipment with care, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any issues promptly.

Knowledge and Expertise:

• Develop a thorough knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, and beverage preparation techniques.
• Understand the menu, including food and beverage pairings, to provide accurate recommendations.
• Operate and maintain coffee machines and other bar equipment efficiently.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures and assist guests and associates in the event of an emergency.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

• Previous experience as a barista in a luxury or high-end environment is preferred.

Skills:

• Proficient in coffee-making techniques, including espresso preparation, latte art, and manual brewing methods.
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills to manage a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a guest-focused attitude.

Education:

• MBO level 2-3 or equivalent work and thinking level.
