Job Description

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping will help to organise and maintain a high degree of excellence across the hotel, as well as managing an efficient Housekeeping department that delivers an exceptional guest experience. Your attention to detail and passion will motivate your team to achieve ambitious targets. You will be responsible for ensuring excellence in guest rooms, suites, corridors, stairways, pantries, heart of house and public areas. As a natural leader, you will be collaborative and hands on, supporting and mentoring your team.

  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping in the overall running of the Housekeeping department and deputise for the Director of Housekeeping in their absence.
  • Drive the performance of the Housekeeping department, ensuring the team delivers the highest quality in relation to Forbes, LQA and Rosewood Brand Standards in order to consistently meet and exceed guest expectations.
  • Contribute to the collective commitment of a unique guest experience and a sense of place.
  • Handle guests concerns and comments and find a proper resolution to ensure guest satisfaction. Perform any appropriate investigation and follow-up with guests and associates.
  • Review guest requests prior to arrival and ensure that they are properly set up in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping in the preparation of the hotel’s annual goals and the Housekeeping department budget, including all expenses, revenues and labour.
  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping in the control of labour and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control, while focusing on creative cost control and revenue generation solutions to maximize profit in the department and the hotel.
  • Conduct daily inspections of rooms and suites to ensure all standards and requirements are met.
  • Be fully aware of and comply with all aspects of the hotel's health, safety and fire policy and particularly the COSHH hygiene regulations.
  • Work closely with the Engineering department to maintain our product and rectify any damage.
  • Ensure the appropriate training and training support of all Housekeeping associates.
  • Liaise with contract cleaners to ensure all schedules are met and areas cleaned to standard.
  • Manage and oversee associate rotas to ensure correct staffing, and manage absenteeism, sickness and overtime.
  • Assist with performance reviews of associates within the Housekeeping department.

About you

  • Experience as an Assistant Director or Director of Housekeeping in a 5-star luxury hotel.
  • Experience with LQA and Forbes is essential.
  • Meticulous with a great eye for detail.
  • A collaborative and hands on leader, with a passion for your team.
  • Preferably you’ll have experience being part of a pre-opening team.
