THE TEAM

As part of the Talent & Culture Division, which focuses on building a purpose-driven, high-performing, and values-led workforce, this role contributes to the strategic development and execution of people initiatives across the hotel. You will report directly to the Managing Director, collaborating closely with Rosewood Hotel Group's corporate Talent & Culture team, Finance, and all operational departments to ensure the hotel's people strategy aligns with its brand philosophy and business goals.


YOUR ROLE

The Director of Talent & Culture with Rosewood Calistoga plays a critical role in shaping the hotel's people strategy, fostering a culture of belonging, and ensuring operational excellence through talent development and engagement. This role leads the formulation and implementation of all Talent & Culture strategies, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, associate relations, safety programs, and performance management. With a long-term and strategic mindset, the Director ensures the hotel maintains a sustainable, productive, and competent workforce that supports its brand values and operational needs.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE THE PLACE

  • Lead the development and execution of Talent & Culture strategies aligned with Rosewood's vision, mission, and values
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets for Talent & Culture, monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions
  • Drive employer branding and ensure brand integrity is maintained across all people-related initiatives
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to develop training materials and master trainer programs that embed culture and brand values
  • Facilitate implementation of core programs that help associates live the brand and deliver Relationship Hospitality
  • Support pre-opening strategy and execution, overseeing all activities within the Talent & Culture division, in close partnership with peers and the corporate team
  • Forecast manpower requirements and lead effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent
  • Interview candidates and review job descriptions and organizational structures regularly
  • Collect and analyze compensation and benefits data to ensure competitiveness and internal equity
  • Lead annual salary reviews and oversee bonus plans, salary administration, and historical data reporting
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all associate and hotel records
  • Oversee and supervise the Talent Development function to support operational needs and foster a learning culture
  • Conduct training programs and collaborate with Corporate to promote continuous improvement
  • Design effective communication systems for compensation, benefits, and associate services
  • Develop wellness, recognition, and incentive programs to enhance engagement and performance
  • Create internal communication standards including newsletters, bulletins, and video channels
  • Organize associate sports and social activities to promote team spirit and morale
  • Lead the performance appraisal process and ensure consistent application of evaluation methodologies
  • Counsel managers on associate relations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
  • Conduct investigations and monitor performance improvement processes
  • Review and approve employment termination recommendations
  • Represent the hotel in associate-related legal matters
  • Analyze workforce productivity metrics such as turnover and absenteeism to identify trends and solutions
  • Maintain a heart-of-house environment reflective of the brand
  • Monitor and ensure implementation of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts standards
  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve guest service goals
  • Review Brand Talent & Culture Operational Management Review results and lead improvement plans

  • You bring extensive experience in senior Talent & Culture leadership roles within luxury hospitality.
  • You demonstrate strong strategic thinking, initiative, and decision-making capabilities.
  • You have a deep understanding of compensation, benefits, recruitment, and talent development practices.
  • You possess excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • You demonstrate effective leadership and people management competencies, including mentoring and team development.
  • You have previously contributed to the successful pre-opening of a luxury hotel.
  • You have a proven ability to drive associate engagement and foster a culture of belonging.
  • You show strong business acumen with the ability to deliver tangible results and support operational needs.
  • You hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management.
  • You have a thorough understanding of California/Calistoga markets and labor laws. You demonstrate strong guest centricity and clear alignment with brand values and service philosophy.

The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $190,000 annually. This is the pay range for this position that the company reasonably expects to pay. This position also may be eligible for bonuses. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on several factors, such as experience, type of experience, location, and education.
