OUR PURPOSE AND CULTURE
We are driven to create a future where people and place enrich one another. We are wholly committed to rooting ourselves more deeply in every place we are in while setting new benchmarks for positive impact.
As a pioneering collective with a common purpose, we curate extraordinary moments and honor the soul of every place along our journey. At Rosewood Hotel Group, we answer The Calling. Together, we Make the Place.
THE TEAM
You will be a key member of the New Zealand leadership team, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will provide functional leadership and mentorship to the on-property Talent & Culture teams at our three iconic properties: Rosewood Cape Kidnappers, Kauri Cliffs, and Matakauri, located in Hawkes Bay, Northland and Queenstown, ensuring a consistent and world-class employee experience across the cluster.
YOUR ROLE
As the strategic architect of our people strategy, you will directly shape the employee experience to mirror the unparalleled luxury we offer our guests. Your role is pivotal to our success; by championing our culture, building a legacy of talent, and driving organizational excellence, you will ensure Rosewood New Zealand is not only a destination for guests but also the premier employer for hospitality professionals. You will serve as a trusted advisor to property leaders and collaborate with regional and global T&C teams to align our practices with the Rosewood brand.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE
• Develop and execute a comprehensive talent management strategy for the cluster, directly aligned with our strategic objectives and commercial outcomes.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and property leadership teams on all people-related matters, including organizational design and leadership coaching.
• Lead the design of innovative talent acquisition, performance management, and succession planning programs to build a robust leadership pipeline.
• Lead the Talent and Culture team spread across the 3 lodges, managing a heavy seasonal recruitment process as well as the associate accomodation.
• Champion our culture by designing and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, wellbeing, and a diverse and inclusive work environment.
• Leverage data and analytics to diagnose issues, forecast trends, and measure the effectiveness of all talent initiatives.
• Oversee all HR operations and compliance, ensuring excellence in service delivery across all three locations.
COULD THIS BE YOU?
• You bring 8+ years of strategic HR leadership experience, with knowledge of New Zealand or Australian labour laws.
• You have an appreciation for luxury or high-service environments, with proven business acumen and a results-driven approach. Experience in hospitality or luxury is beneficial.
• Your track record in developing successful talent strategies demonstrates your ability to think strategically and translate vision into actionable plans that deliver measurable impact.
• You are an inspiring leader and trusted advisor, building strong relationships with the executive leadership team and providing expert, empathetic counsel on complex matters.
• Your passion for fostering inclusive, high-performing cultures is evident in your previous work, and you are motivated to be the guardian of our unique environment.
• You are proficient in data and analytics, using metrics to measure and improve business outcomes, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.
• You are resilient and adaptable, thriving on managing a remote team and are committed to the travel requirements (25%) of this multi-property role.
• You will ideally be based in Hawkes Bay, although we may be open to Northland or Queenstown for the right individual
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
At Rosewood Hotel Group, your voice is heard – and valued. We’re a community that encourages associates to be themselves, not fit into a fixed culture, and this philosophy shines through in our commitments to reflect and honor the history, culture and geography of our destinations. We’re not only committed to building and nurturing genuine, long-lasting relationships but to transforming them – and our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy helps put these principles into practice.
