Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications Manager partners with the Director of Marketing to lead all marketing, public relations, and communications initiatives for Kona Village. This role is responsible for managing PR agency relationships, developing and executing strategic media trips and award submissions, and driving commercial success through innovative campaigns and partnerships. The ideal candidate thrives on frequent travel, excels at building cross-functional consensus, and is passionate about elevating the Kona Village brand in Hawaii and beyond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the reputation and visibility of Kona Village, with a strong emphasis on commercial outcomes.
• Manage relationships with PR agencies, ensuring alignment on messaging, campaign objectives, and performance metrics.
• Strategically plan and coordinate media trips and award submissions, leveraging these opportunities to drive commercial success and positive media coverage.
• Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Marketing on the annual Marketing & Communications Plan, ensuring cross-functional input and buy-in.
• Oversee the creation and production of all resort collateral, ensuring accuracy, brand consistency, and commercial impact.
• Organize and execute photo shoots and filming at the resort as needed, supporting PR and commercial initiatives.
• Manage and organize resort-sponsored events and partnerships, fostering collaboration across departments to maximize commercial results.
• Conduct site inspections for media and other clients, often requiring travel and flexible scheduling.
• Produce high-quality written materials for the resort, including press releases, media kits, and award submissions.
• Serve as the primary liaison to PR and other external agencies, ensuring effective communication and project management.
• Attend industry events, media functions, and awards ceremonies as a representative of Kona Village, often requiring frequent travel.
• Anticipate guest and media needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive relations at all times.
• Resolve guest and media inquiries or complaints, ensuring satisfaction and positive outcomes.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of resort information, correspondence, reports, and files.
• Assist with the compilation of monthly sales, marketing, and PR reports, with a focus on commercial performance.
• Send monthly marketing updates to department heads and corporate office.
• Coordinate reservation requests and guest experience arrangements for media and VIPs, ensuring special requests are handled efficiently.
• Perform a variety of duties, often shifting between tasks while maintaining efficiency and composure.
• Model the company’s culture, vision, mission, and core values at all times.
• Other duties as required.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in public relations, including agency management and media relations.
• Demonstrated ability to drive commercial success through PR, partnerships, and creative campaigns.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities.
• Fluent in English. Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to build cross-functional consensus and serve as a subject matter expert.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on quality assurance and accurate brand representation.
• Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling press materials and award submissions.
• Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
• Ability to understand and anticipate guest and media service needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of guest and resort information.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently for media trips, industry events, and award submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum five years’ operational, administrative, sales, or PR experience for a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel, resort, or brand, preferably in Sales, Marketing, or PR.
• Minimum 3 years management experience

 At Kona Village, associates may be asked to contribute beyond their immediate department when needed, supporting other areas to ensure our overall success. This collaborative approach may occasionally include tasks outside your usual role or working outside of normal scheduled hours. Flexibility and teamwork are essential as we work together to meet our shared goals.

Salary Range:  $90 - $100k annually.  Annual Incentive Plan eligibility of 10-15% of base annual salary.  If on-site transitional housing and relocation assistance provided.
