Overview
The Director of Engineering for Rosewood Red Sea is responsible for overseeing the engineering operations and maintenance of these ultra-luxury properties, ensuring seamless functionality, sustainability, and compliance with brand standards. This role involves leading a team to maintain the physical infrastructure, implement innovative engineering solutions, and support the regenerative tourism vision of Red Sea Global. The Director will ensure that both properties, located along Saudi Arabia’s west coast, operate at peak performance while prioritizing environmental stewardship, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across both properties, ensuring optimal performance and guest comfort.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Implement and monitor sustainable engineering practices, aligning with Red Sea Global’s commitment to 100% renewable energy, zero-carbon footprint, and zero waste to landfill. Ensure compliance with environmental standards, including protection of local ecosystems such as turtle nesting sites.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration. Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Project Oversight: Manage engineering projects, including renovations, upgrades, and new installations, ensuring timely completion within budget and adherence to Rosewood’s luxury standards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment and facilities.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all engineering operations comply with local regulations, safety standards, and Rosewood’s brand standards. Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget, optimizing resource allocation while maintaining high standards of service.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external contractors and vendors, such as SALCO for design projects, to ensure quality and alignment with property goals.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans for engineering-related incidents, ensuring rapid resolution to maintain guest safety and satisfaction.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on engineering performance, sustainability metrics, and project progress to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a luxury hospitality or large-scale resort environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and energy management systems. Familiarity with sustainable engineering practices and renewable energy technologies.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
