Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent and/or the Head Mechanic, the Mechanic assists and/or works independently of the Head Mechanic in the repairing and maintenance of the Golf carts and all Golf Course Equipment. The Head Mechanic and the Mechanic share a neutral area, and it is expected that this area be maintained, clean and tidy always. It is also expected that the Mechanic contribute to a preventative maintenance program, and place safety procedures as a top priority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must have a working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline-, diesel and electric-powered equipment, the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment.
- Must be able to fix the steering, brakes, change batteries and diagnose GPS issues on golf carts and be able to consistently keep them in pristine working condition.
- Once a month check the water, battery terminals, tire pressure and tire treads on the golf carts used by members to golf.
- Once a month do maintenance on the staff golf carts.
- Set Height of cut on golf course mowers
- Diagnose electrical problems on machinery and fix
- Assist in the designing of a proper preventative maintenance program.
- Train staff on the proper use of machinery
- Assists in an effective, daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment
- A working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
- Ability to move heavy objects.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
- Requires a mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.
- Must maintain a clean, safe, work environment.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized parts inventory room.
- Adheres to the proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds and other fluids (antifreeze, oil filters, etc.).
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS:
Education:
· High School Diploma preferable
· First Aid and Adult CPR Certification would be an asset
Job Skills Required:
- Must possession of a valid driver's license, HA (Heavy Articulated) truck license an asset or the ability to obtain license within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must understand the game of golf
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and senior executives
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction.
Experience Required:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the same or similar position.
