Job Summary 

To be responsible for the oversight of the leisure and recreation areas (pool/lifeguards, kids, sports, and other activities). Daily supervision and leadership of the teams supporting the overall leisure services for hotel guests and members. Responsible to monitor and maintain all aspects of water safety, lifeguard standards, training, and operational management to the highest standard. Responsible to plan and implement the kids’ program at Rosewood Explorers, curate activities and programs, train and supervise Attendants. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties
  • Provide a courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service at all times.
  • Possess full working knowledge and ability to perform all duties and tasks listed in under job description.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. To maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Respect the privacy of the guest at all times.
  • Attend briefings, as required.
  • Follow company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.


Operational Responsibilities
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Process orders or transactions from customers and collect payment as necessary.
  • Be articulate in all operational programs and job skills, showing enthusiasm to always increase this knowledge and that of your associates, acting as a role model to others.
  • Wellness departmental policies, service procedures and Forbes/LQA standards.
  • Opening and closing the facility.
  • Taking reservations and answering the telephone in the absence of the reception team.
  • Recognize arrivals of all VIP guests arriving in the spa/fitness/recreation facility and the hotel.
  • Ensure the facility is in peak condition and clean at all times.
  • Responsible for driving the guest experience and communication amongst the associates orchestrating a smooth guest sequence delivery.
  • Ensure guest / member preferences and special requests are accommodated to the best of the property’s abilities.
  • Ensure the facility is receiving the highest ratings from the guest satisfaction surveys.
  • Deal with any guest complaints, comments or concerns with discretion and urgency.
  • Maintain the provision of amenities and towels, this includes stocking fresh ones and collecting used ones and delivering them to the needful delivery points.
  • Ensure lighting and music levels are correctly set and maintained.
  • Knowledgeable of the wellness reservation systems, POS system, operation & control of systems and equipment.
  • Maintain the professional set up of all guest access areas, and any supporting facilities.
  • Remove any dishes left by the guests and clean them.
  • Ensure all areas are stocked as per standard with appropriate supplies.

Rosewood Explorers
  • Personally contribute to the Rosewood Explorer program's team goal of providing fun, educational and caring services to the children of members and guests, in a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Build rapport with and take a genuine interest in all children and parents utilizing the club's child activity services.
  • Supervise on-floor operations and associates during shift. Act as a roving attendant at various kid activity stations when needed.
  • Offer a full, varied, innovative, and targeted calendar of activities and events for boys and girls who visit.
  • Maintain the facility and equipment/supplies to company standards for cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist the Director with special projects, events, specialty classes and party planning for the kid’s program.
  • Participate in everyday activities such as organizing arts and crafts time, leading games, reading stories, and singing songs.
  • Promote the club's kids’ programs and activities.
  • Assist parents in program registration and discuss any behavioral issues of child.
  • Check and supervise the work of Attendants based on proper security procedures ensure that every kid and parent has signed in and signed out in our sign in and sign out form.
  • Brief and supervise the Attendants to organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in Kids Club area.
  • To help keep facilities and equipment clean, neat, and well maintained. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the manager.
  • Supervise & report problems, injuries, and hazards promptly if cannot handle to Director of Wellness.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed as needed within the day & meet the monthly report deadlines.


Lifeguarding
  • Ensure that all rescue and lifesaving equipment is checked and maintained on a regular basis as well as ensuring that all pool and beach areas are maintained at all times: Ensure proper standards of safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and functioning of equipment.
  • Coordinate and supervise third party lifeguard arrangements and daily scheduling.
  • Monitor guest activities to ensure the comfort and safety of all.
  • In case of emergencies, they respond immediately, communicate effectively with supervisors, and execute emergency procedures as needed. Assist in First Aid situations.
  • Report any guest’s feedback, comments, or complaints to your Department Head immediately.
  • Plan, facilitate and document all lifeguard training sessions as well as to ensure all lifeguard qualifications are kept up to date.
  • Carry out visual audits of lifeguards to guarantee the highest levels of professionalism at all times.
  • Carry out regular un-announced rescue drills in coordination with hotel management.
  • Assist in the preparation of lifeguard schedules to ensure that the maximum coverage is achieved at all times.
  • Operate in a safe and environmentally friendly way to protect guests’ and associates’ health and safety, as well as protect and conserve the environment.
  • Monitor the quality of water, collect water samples for testing, and maintain water quality conditions in collaboration with the Engineering Department to ensure that the pool water meets established standard quality.
  • Arrange and/or conduct lifeguard training focused on safety, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Handle customer complaints, train lifeguards, and manage schedules.

Other Responsibilities
  • Manage team schedules to maximize efficiency and offer administrative support for all reports related to recreation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all data produced by recreation department.
  • Support the Manager to track all internal inventories for the department and report any variances of equipment lost, stolen, or broken.
  • Review purchase requisitions required to have adequate stock of equipment and supplies.
  • Submit monthly reports relevant to income of recreation and or relevant departments.
  • Provide performance reviews as needed.
  • Report any maintenance requirements of the recreation areas.

Talent Development Responsibilities
  • Supervise day-to-day associate performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensuring that all procedures are carried out to departmental standards; rectify any deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Conduct Brand Services Training, review guest journey and flow charts.
  • Conduct Forbes, LQA and FTG Training for Wellness.
  • Ensure that all aspects of associate performance are managed within the department including on-going associate feedback, counseling and disciplinary requirements, and the associated Performance Reviews. These aspects must be carried out in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with facilities maintenance, equipment service vendors, software provider, etc. for repairs and service.
  • Follow up on quotation and projects on facilities improvements.
  • Conduct Weekly walk-through with ENG to follow on outstanding maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a high level of safety in the workplace.
  • Responsible for the HOH, Fire, Life, Health and Safety including storage (towels and OE), Fire exits and passage clearance.


Standard Responsibilities
  • Comply and adhere to the Rosewood company policies.
  • Take on other tasks in addition of the ones stated, in a reasonable framework.
  • Be a “brand ambassador” at all times and ensure brand integrity and clarity are always maintained.
  • Maintain an understanding of the wellness industry and Asaya philosophy (emotional, physical, nutrition, skin health, community.)
  • Understand that as a representative of Asaya they will maintain a healthy, fit appearance and a positive attitude.
  • Model the Company’s culture, vision, mission, and core values at all times.
  • Be mindful of and active in a Wellness lifestyle and strive to inspire wellness-focused change in others.
  • Maintain personal grooming and appearance according to the standards.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward guests, associates, subordinates, and hotel management. Avoid engaging in gossip or any dialogue that may diminish the direction and goals of the hotel and the hotel group.

It is vital that all such information remains confidential and must not be disclosed to anyone outside the company, guests, and employees, unless otherwise stated.



Health & Safety
  • Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Act as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.
  • The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.
  • Report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure.
  • Ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
  • Attend Statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning Fire, Health & Safety.
  • Be fully conversant with:

    • Risk Assessments for your department
    • Hotel Fire & Bomb Procedures
