A Day in the Life:
As our hotel's Sommelier, you will curate and manage an extensive wine collection, provide personalized wine service, and collaborate with our culinary team to enhance the overall dining experience. Your day will involve training and mentoring staff, managing the wine program's budget, and ensuring all wine-related activities comply with local and international regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the delivery of brand promise and support the implementation of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts' values and culture.
  • Adhere to hotel policies regarding fire, hygiene, health, and safety.
  • Provide courteous and efficient guest service, handling inquiries and complaints.
  • Curate and maintain an extensive and diverse wine collection.
  • Manage wine stock levels, order supplies, and oversee stock rotation.
  • Create and update the wine list, reflecting current trends and seasonal variations.
  • Train and mentor service staff on wine knowledge and service techniques.
  • Provide personalized wine service and recommendations to guests.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team on wine pairings.
  • Plan and oversee wine-related events such as tastings and dinners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with wine suppliers.
  • Manage the wine program’s budget and ensure profitability.
  • Oversee proper storage conditions for all wines.
  • Develop marketing strategies to promote the wine program and events.
  • Ensure all wines served meet quality standards through regular tastings.
  • Comply with laws and regulations regarding alcohol service.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging wine regions.
  • Provide educational opportunities for guests, such as wine classes or tastings.

Skills
  • MBO level 3-4 work and thinking level, preferably with an SVH teacher diploma.
  • Knowledge of safety and social hygiene regulations.
  • Financial management and reporting skills.
  • Customer-centric approach and positive attitude.
  • Strategic thinker with initiative and business mindset.
  • Strong time and task management skills.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Micros, Seven Rooms, and Birchstreet is highly valued, as it enhances our ability to deliver exceptional service.
