THE IMPACT OF THIS ROLE 

The Sales Manager – Consortia, Leisure & Wholesaler is responsible for driving room revenue within assigned market segments based on the strategic needs of the hotel. This role actively manages and grows consortia partnerships, leisure travel accounts, and wholesale business while supporting the overall objectives of the Sales Department. Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management team, the position ensures effective account management, market penetration, and alignment with pricing and distribution strategies to maximize profitability and market share.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

Sales & Business Development (Consortia, Leisure & Wholesale)

  • Solicit new consortia, leisure, and wholesale business through proactive external sales activities, including sales calls, market visits, and networking events.
  • Create, implement, and monitor sales action plans for assigned market segments.
  • Drive room revenue growth through strategic account development, promotions, and negotiated rate programs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with consortia partners, leisure travel advisors, wholesalers, and tour operators through regular communication and client entertainment.
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing and emerging leisure markets.

 

Account & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned consortia, leisure, and wholesale accounts.
  • Respond to account inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage RFPs, rate loading, and seasonal promotions in collaboration with Revenue Management.
  • Ensure clear communication of hotel offerings, policies, and value propositions to partners.
  • Resolve account-related concerns promptly to maintain long-term partnerships.

 

 

 

 

Contracting & Revenue Management

  • Negotiate consortia, leisure, and wholesale contracts in alignment with hotel pricing and revenue strategies in collaboration with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management team
  • Ensure contracted rates, inclusions, blackout dates, and allotments are accurately implemented.
  • Monitor production, pace, and pickup to ensure accounts are meeting agreed performance expectations.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management to adjust strategies based on demand and market conditions.

 

Distribution & Systems Management

  • Coordinate rate loading, promotions, and content accuracy across all distribution channels.
  • Ensure availability, restrictions, and offers are correctly reflected in the CRS, GDS, and third-party platforms.
  • Monitor channel performance and address discrepancies or system issues promptly.

 

Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis

  • Monitor market trends, competitive set activity, and industry developments within the consortia, leisure, and wholesale segments.
  • Provide market insights and recommendations to support pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies.
  • Participate in sales strategy meetings and contribute to overall market positioning.

 

Operations & Service Quality

  • Collaborate with Operations and Guest Services teams to ensure the delivery of contracted services and guest expectations.
  • Address service-related feedback impacting consortia, leisure, or wholesale guests.
  • Maintain brand standards and ensure a consistent guest experience aligned with contracted agreements.

 

Reporting, Administration & Compliance

  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly sales reports, and production tracking for assigned segments.
  • Ensure compliance with all departmental policies, procedures, brand standards, and legal requirements.
  • Support departmental goals and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Sales.

 

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a sales manager; luxury or ultra-luxury environment preferred. Knowledge or familiarity with the leisure, consortia and wholesaler segment will be considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Business, Sales, Marketing, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize, and follow up; be a clear thinker, remain calm, and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; and maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of presenting and discussing technical information to establish rapport and/or influence and gain understanding of others; demonstrated knowledge of hospitality systems and software.
  • Knowledge of hotel/resort operations management, including quality and operations; required knowledge of and experience with the luxury/ultra-luxury market niche; understanding of hospitality industry trends, performance metrics, and terminology.
  • Required to speak, read, and write English with fluency or proficiency.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of guest and hotel business information.

 

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

The annual salary range for this position is $78,000 to $80,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
