Job Summary 

Participate in the preventive maintenance program of all-building equipment and rooms. Supervise, train, and inspect the performance of engineering associates ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards. Work closely with Duty Engineer in scheduling work and setting priorities. Also make decisions in the absence of Duty Engineer and act as the backup for calls when there are emergencies. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that all standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of the proper maintenance procedures, the use of equipment as intended.
  • Ensure the use of all required Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) while on duty.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive Maintenance to all sections/departments within the property in accordance with the company and the department standards.
  • Maintain all guestrooms in perfect condition in accordance with the Perfect Room Program (PRP) procedures and standards guidelines.
  • Carry out regular inspections of guestrooms, public areas, all plantrooms and equipment.
  • Check for any potential fire hazards, fused lights, reactive work orders and faulty equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain stock levels of parts and equipment required to carry out the work.
  • Conduct weekly inventory of equipment and supplies; prepare requisitions for reordering of shortages.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, and organization of storage areas.
  • Carry duty mobile and respond promptly to all requests.
  • Address and fulfil requests from both the engineering and other departments efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute work assignments for Engineering associates and set priorities.
  • Monitor and handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Check Engineering Logbook and Night Report for information regarding problems; document pertinent information in logbook and take daily readings.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Always maintain positive guest relations.
  • Observe associate performance of job functions and ensure all procedures are completed to departmental standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Cooperate with full compliance with the Property’s Health and Safety Policies & Procedures as well as Operational Works Instruction to protect the health and safety of the occupants.
  • Attending all training arranged related to Hygiene, Health & Safety such as but not limited to Safety Training, Safety Induction, On- the-Job Training, PPE, Hot Work, Tools Handling, …etc
  • Assist associates with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum standards and efficient operation.
  • Conduct training for associates as assigned.
  • Implement methods and techniques, which are cost effective to improve efficiency.
  • FLS & Operations: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as power outages, plumbing failures, or HVAC issues, to ensure the safety and comfort of guests.
  • Knowcross: Monitor Know cross application and respond promptly to any escalated requests made for problems, assistance, or emergency work orders.
  • Maintain neat and tidy working areas, workshops, and MEP plant rooms all time.

  • Take on other tasks in addition of the ones stated, in a reasonable framework.

  • Acts with guests in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with guests and gains their trust and respect. 
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure good communication and offer support.

It is vital that all such information remains confidential and must not be disclosed to anyone outside the company, guests, and associates, unless otherwise stated.


Health & Safety

  • Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and Risk assessments and strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
  • Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety rules, regulations, and procedures as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.
  • The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.
  • Report any defects in the building, plant, or equipment according to hotel procedure.
  • Ensure that any accidents to associates, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
  • Attend Statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning Fire, Health & Safety.
  • Be fully aware with and adhere to:
    • Regulations.
    • Hotel Risk Assessments.
    • Hotel Fire, Life & Safety Procedures.
