OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
The Busser supports the coffee shop team by ensuring tables and service areas are clean, organized, and ready for guests. This role assists servers and baristas by delivering food and beverages, clearing tables, restocking supplies, and maintaining a welcoming, efficient environment to enhance the guest experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and general descriptions of food and beverage offerings to assist guests when needed.
- Support proper table setup and service standards, ensuring correct glassware, utensils, and settings are available.
- Follow safe food handling and service techniques in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Assist servers and baristas with order delivery in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a basic knowledge of the P.O.S. system to support order accuracy and guest needs.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service to guests and team members at all times.
- Anticipate and respond promptly to guest needs, ensuring a positive experience throughout their visit.
- Stay informed about coffee shop offerings and nearby amenities to assist with guest inquiries.
- Work closely with team members to ensure smooth food and beverage service.
- Adhere to all departmental policies, service standards, and safety procedures.
Cleaning & Maintenance Responsibilities
- Ensure tables and service areas remain clean, organized, and hygienic at all times.
- Clear soiled wares promptly and transport them to the dishwashing area.
- Set up, clean, and reset dining areas while maintaining hospitality standards.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance, cleanliness, and hygiene.
- Complete assigned side work duties as directed by management.
- Assist with food delivery and other operational needs across outlets as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Previous experience working as a food runner, server assistant, or host in a fine dining restaurant or in a luxury hotel environment preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred education.
General Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks, follow directions, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Positive, guest-focused attitude with problem-solving skills.
Language: English required; bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 40 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout shifts.
Licenses & Certifications: California Food Handler Card, preferred.
